Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Purpose of Position

This position would focus on deep cleaning all ribbon lines in the clean space, process support for PYM and managing all bonding materials.

Work Hours & Expectations

• Typical work schedule is 40 hours
• Monday through Friday, dayshift
• Work may require limited overtime and support on each shift; Work schedules will be jointly agreed upon by the employee and Department manager

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required
• 6 months or more of clean space experience
• Must not be in progressive discipline process; Dependability as reflected in attendance records

Required Skills

• Strong commitment to enhancing safety culture
• Knowledge of cable processing, manufacturing equipment and raw materials used throughout plant.
• Certified and experienced Manufacturing Associate; Broad understanding of Plant Operation.
• Able to work within a team environment. 
• Results oriented, understand urgency of deadlines, and follow tasks to completion.
• Strong verbal and written communication, & computer skills.
• Effective in managing priorities / tasks and managing time effectively.
• Strong work ethic, sense of urgency, and good planning / organization skills.
• Proficiency with standard computer programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); Experience with SAP and CoMET Selection will be based on several factors including: performance, skill certifications, length of service, and discipline status.
• In addition, an interview process may be used for final selection.

Responsibilities

• Regular deep cleaning of ribboning lines and clean space equipment –follow SOP guidelines for cleaning each production line on a set schedule.
• Inspection of critical process components including UV lamps and FLOW components – inspect each production line according to schedule to verify specifications, and adjust/repair equipment as needed
• Basic housekeeping of clean space areas – regular cleaning of floors, workbenches and other contact surfaces to maintain process area cleanliness
• Micro Dispensing Valve (MDV) maintenance – Test and repair dispensing equipment as needed.
• Perform preventative maintenance according to service intervals.
• Train operators on valve cleaning procedures.
• Ribbon line troubleshooting – build knowledge of common performance issues and basic understanding of FLOW ribboning equipment for troubleshooting during production upsets
• Engineering project support – as needed, support implementation of engineering projects such as production line modifications or bringing on new technologies to the clean space 
• Inventory management of bonding material in the clean space including rolling of the kegs, pumping bond material into bottles, requesting bonding material from the warehouse, and attention to detail to keep adequate bonding material available for the ribbon lines

The range for this position is ​$21.50 hourly rate - $26.25 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
