Digital Content Manager

Muskingum University invites applications for a Digital Content Manager. This position develops thoughtful, engaging, and vibrant content that tells the Muskingum story through its various digital channels, including its website and social media pages.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop creative, vibrant, and engaging digital content and user experiences that are consistent with institutional priorities and work to strengthen Muskingum’s brand.
  • Act as the primary manager of the University's website, ensuring all content is current and relevant with regular maintenance within its Drupal-based Content Management System.
  • Train University employees who maintain their office websites and provide updates, recommendations and tools to assist them in the maintenance of their sites.
  • Update website content to increase search engine optimization and make recommendations to offices for SEO optimization of their sites.
  • Manage the University's institutional social media channels, developing dynamic monthly content calendars and managing and responding to all social communities, messages, and comments.
  • Develop and implement paid and organic digital campaigns for social media and other digital platforms promoting the University and its programs. This includes goal setting, demographic and geographic profiling, budgeting (if paid) and post campaign reporting.
  • Promote campus life by attending University events to post social media content in real time and capture photographs for social media posts.
  • Create short videos for promotion of the University and its programs for social media and events.
  • Develop and enforce policies associated with the University's website, email and social media presence that are carefully considered, planned and communicated throughout campus.
  • Regularly consult with various University departments and offices to support their strategic goals, and seek opportunities to inform, coach and educate the University's various Internal constituencies on web content and social media policies as well as best practices.
  • Continually pursue new opportunities to advance the University's digital presence and communicate with our various external audiences.
  • Develop new content and work with various departments on providing continuously updated web content.
  • Serve as one of the University photographers capturing images for the website (employee headshots, banner photos, etc.), social media posts, and marketing collateral.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in communications, marketing or related field of study
  • At least 2 years' experience managing websites, web-based applications, and social media channels
  • A brand publishers' mindset that seeks to understand what audiences consume and how to create it
  • Experience maintaining and customizing websites in Drupal or a similar content management system
  • Basic understanding of HTML and CSS, MySQL, PHP, JavaScript
  • Experience with search engine optimization and analyzing and utilizing Google Analytics
  • Experience creating marketing content for the web and social media channels
  • Proven track record in increasing followers, impressions and engagement
  • Experience in using social media management tools
  • Experience using social media algorithms and metrics and adjusting content strategy based on data
  • A command of best practices for social media channels, including which content and approaches work on each, and why
  • Experience using AI tools and technologies to increase efficiencies and enhance performance
  • Excellent project management and communication skills, as well as a willingness to contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed
  • Ability to work nights and weekends to take photographs and cover events for social media
