Job Title: Medical Assistant – Contract

Locations: Houston, TX, Pasadena, TX, Pearland, TX, Sugar Land, TX, The Woodlands, TX

Duration: 3+ Months (Contract)

Schedule: Monday–Friday (Day/Night)

Hours: 40 hours/week

Rate: $22/hr (W2)

Job Summary

The Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers, promoting efficient workflow and high-quality patient care within a medical office environment.

Responsibilities Clinical Support
  • Perform venipuncture, EKGs, vital signs, and assist with procedures.

  • Prepare exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and uphold infection control standards.

  • Collect/process specimens and perform point-of-care testing.

  • Assist with patient mobility, transfers, and dressing.

  • Maintain logs for refrigeration, sterilization, and crash cart checks.

  • Monitor medication/supply expiration dates; dispose per policy.

  • Maintain safe and compliant clinical environment.

  • Follow PPE/safety standards regarding exposure to infectious materials.

  • Perform proficient phlebotomy as needed.

Administrative Support
  • Enter physician orders and prescription refill requests into the EMR.

  • Manage medical records and update patient charts.

  • Assist with scheduling appointments, procedures, or surgeries.

  • Verify/update patient demographics, insurance, and pre-certification information.

  • Maintain inventory and order medical supplies.

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.

Skills & Competencies
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Professional phone etiquette; ability to handle patient inquiries.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA regulations.

  • EMR experience preferred.

  • Basic proficiency in MS Office.

  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Education & Certifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Medical Assistant Certification.

  • Current AHA BLS Certification.
