The Public Health Research Center (PHRC) at New York University Abu Dhabi is seeking a Research Assistant Bioinformatician with experience in population genetics and machine learning to join its team. The ideal candidate will have experience in bioinformatics, whole-genome sequencing data analysis and predictive modelling. The role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary research environment alongside epidemiologists, geneticists and computational biologists. The PHRC is focused on understanding the factors influencing health outcomes and traits related to the most common non-communicable diseases in the UAE. This is achieved by investigating and integrating diverse data sources, including epidemiological, clinical, genetic, and multi-omic data. The successful candidate will benefit from the support of established Core Bioinformatics and Sequencing Platforms and High-Performance Computing facilities.
Applicants must have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computational Biology. Excellent experimental and in silico skills relevant to the project (in particular genomics and bioinformatics), and strong programming skills (e.g., Python, R, Bash, Java, C++), are also required.
