Research Laboratory Assistant Location Los Angeles, CA :

The Department of Translational Genomics is seeking a highly motivated part-time post-bachelor Research Laboratory Assistant to join Dr. Crystal Marconett's lab. The successful candidate will have significant interest in precision medicine in a research laboratory setting with demonstrated interest in various key functional areas with an emphasis on statistical and computational genomics. The successful applicant must possess and demonstrate a willingness to learn and employ new skill sets that will contribute to the PI's research program (both technically and intellectually) as he/she will be expected to contribute to the overall success and growth of the laboratory objectives.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal communication skill with high emphasis on collaboration, a meticulous attention to details, competent at working independently, and the ability to easily adapt to a wide scope of projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recently graduated, spring 2025 graduated, Bachelor's degree with a major in Pre-medicine or related.
  • Classes related with Statistics, Medicine and Biomedical Sciences or related.
  • Proficient with mac OS and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of computers analysis techniques and ability to provide routine analysis and interpretation of medical and research data.
  • Knowledge of software environment for statistical computing and graphics.
  • Knowledge of in vitro techniques, specifically cell culture, RNA isolation, and qRT-PCR.
  • Knowledge and experience in transgenic cell line generation, FACS analysis, western blotting and immunofluorescence.
  • Provides general computational laboratory assistance to support research activities.
  • Performs data manipulation assignments which are non-routine and vary in complexity with minimal direction.
  • Compiles data and computes results for a variety of research procedures, tests and techniques.

The successful candidate will have an opportunity to work in a team-oriented environment and provide cutting-edge computational genomics services to the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California, and its affiliates.

The hourly rate range for this position is $19.41 - $20.00.
