Job Description

Position Summary
The School Safety Officer Supervisor (SSOS) serves as the on-site leader for all safety and security operations across assigned school campuses. This supervisory role is critical to ensuring the seamless execution of campus-wide safety protocols, personnel oversight, emergency coordination, and alignment with school culture and values. The School Safety Supervisor is responsible for managing School Safety Officers (SSOs), serving as the primary liaison with school leadership, and fostering a responsive, resilient, and proactive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Personnel Leadership & Oversight: Directly supervise School Safety Officers. Monitor attendance, evaluate performance, provide coaching, and facilitate corrective actions when necessary.
  • Campus Security Management: Lead site-specific safety strategy implementation across school grounds, including patrol scheduling, post order compliance, and risk mitigation.
  • Emergency Response Coordination: Act as on-scene commander during emergency incidents. Lead drills and preparedness exercises. Liaise with law enforcement and first responders.
  • Operational Planning: Develop and adjust coverage schedules, oversee shift transitions, manage call-offs, and ensure adequate staffing to prevent service gaps.
  • Administrative Documentation: Approve, review, and submit detailed incident reports, shift logs, performance audits, and timesheets for all assigned SSOs.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the central contact for school leadership. Attend safety planning meetings, coordinate responses to school concerns, and support collaborative initiatives.
  • Training & Professional Development: Onboard new officers, deliver post-specific training, and ensure officer participation in ongoing safety certification programs.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct routine inspections, compliance audits, and performance evaluations. Uphold high service standards and model professional conduct.
  • Event Security Management: Lead planning and staffing for high-attendance school events. Develop security plans in coordination with event coordinators and school administrators.
  • Compensation: $21 - $23 per hour
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED (required); Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Safety, Education Leadership, or related field (preferred)
  • Valid Security Officer and/or Security Supervisor certification from the State of Georgia
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in school safety, public safety, law enforcement, or a related supervisory role
  • Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and team development skills
  • Proficiency in using incident reporting software and scheduling platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to remain composed in high-pressure situations and lead with integrity
  • Knowledge of FERPA, mandatory reporting laws, and trauma-informed intervention strategies
