Description
Serve as the Title IX investigator for cases alleging sexual assault, sexual harassment, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking; discrimination and bias incidents/crimes. Serve as the primary investigator for allegations of bias, harassment, and discrimination based on protected categories, including allegations of sexual misconduct as defined under university civil rights policies.
- Interview all relevant parties (the reporting individual, the respondent, and witnesses), gather, analyze and interpret evidence in accordance with legal and college requirements.
- Act as a neutral and objective party through all aspects of investigations and ensure a prompt, fair, and unbiased process for all parties.
- Advise affected parties and respondents of their rights and available resources.
- Ensure a well-documented investigative process. Maintain accurate and thorough databases, records, files and notes.
- Create comprehensive written investigative reports that clearly outlines the process, identifies the issues investigated and summarize evidence.
- Work to ensure a timely initiation of the review or investigative process, an efficient and effective response, and create clear and concise plans of action that will result in informed resolution recommendations.
- Work collaboratively to ensure that Affirmative Action & Title IX policies and procedures are implemented and communicated to all constituencies by developing and facilitating training programs for all campus community members (students, faculty, and staff) that includes information about reporting options and supportive resources.
- Attend and participate in regularly scheduled meetings with the Office of Community Standards on Title IX investigations and conduct cases, and participate in College hearings as a witness.
- Stay abreast of regulations and statutes including but not limited to Title IX, Clery, Edu Article 129-B, VAWA , EEOC & Discrimination.
- Collaborate with campus partners to coordinate campus training on prevention as it relates to sexual assault, sexual harassment, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, bias incidents/crimes, protected classes, prohibited discrimination, and EEOC .
- Inform and consult with the Director of Human Resources on employee related Affirmative Action and Title IX matters as needed.
- Assist with the development and implementation of a case management database to organize, manage, and track all Affirmative Action and Title IX incidents, as well as assist with the preparation and timely submission of compliance reports.
- Responsible for the diligent oversight of search and recruitment process activities such as: data entry, administration and monitoring of search materials and candidate credentials, coordination and review of Good Faith Search Reports, search committee trainings and briefings, and on-line postings uploading and maintenance).
- Serve on college committees and planning teams as needed.
- Identify and integrate innovative industry most useful best practices in the Affirmative Action and Title IX investigation arena into knowledge base and campus practice.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s Degree preferred
- 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably in higher education, in the areas of Affirmative Action, Human Resources, Title IX, investigations, counseling, or other related fields
- Demonstrated knowledge of OCR , Title IX, VAWA , Clery Act, EEO , Affirmative Action; ADA knowledge strongly preferred
- Superior judgement, discretion and tact with the ability to maintain confidentiality and neutrality while managing highly sensitive information & communications
- Strong investigative and interviewing skills
- Proficient oral, written and facilitation communication abilities
- Ability to develop and maintain positive professional interpersonal working relationships
- Flexibility with schedule in order to conduct investigations or trainings after normal business hours.
- Experience in developing and conducting necessary compliance and preventative trainings.
